Gac Fruit As A Soda Replacement

Healthy Alternatives to Carbonated Soda Drinks

There’s nothing like a cold can of Sprite on a hot summer day. It’s refreshing, cooling … and it contains 44g of sugar?!

That’s a huge amount of sugar to be putting in your body, and taste shouldn’t mean you need to sacrifice your health.

At GacLife we believe in creating naturally delicious beverages that support a healthy body without adding tons of sugar or unnatural additives into your diet.

There are so many different ways that you can enjoy a refreshing beverage without compromising your wellbeing.

What Makes Soft Drinks So Bad, Anyway?

You’re probably wondering what exactly about soft drinks makes them such an unhealthy choice for your body.

As it happens, there are quite a few issues with sodas and soft drinks.

High Sugar Content

The first issue with carbonated sodas is that they contain high amounts of sugar. The recommended daily intake for sugar is just 37.5g for men or 25g for women. By drinking one can of soda, you’re already well over the daily dose!

And, when you’re looking for sugar content in soft drinks, you aren’t just looking for the word sugar. Sugars are often disguised under other terms such as:

  • Fructose
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Fruit juice concentrates
  • Corn syrup
  • Syrup
  • Sucrose
  • Dextrose

While all of these terms don’t immediately make you think of sugar, beware! Consuming these ingredients can easily put you over the daily recommended amount of sugars for your diet.

The good news is that there are plenty of natural sweeteners that don’t pack in the calories and that don’t hurt your gut, either. For example, GacLife is naturally sweetened by the juices from the gac fruit, leaving you refreshed and keeping your body free from excess calories.

You would never intentionally consume a cancer inducing agent, right? Well, every time you drink a can of soda, that’s exactly what you’re doing. Yikes!

Studies have shown Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Coke, and Diet Coke to contain 4-MI, a compound that induces cancer in animals and could potentially cause cancer in humans as well. This compound is used to create the brown color in these beverages.

Think about it: consuming a possible cancer causing agent isn’t worth that sip of sweetness on a summer day.

Luckily, there are plenty of safe beverages that use all-natural ingredients which will still give you a refreshing, bubbly sip of sweetness on a hot day.

Weight Gain

A Danish study conducted in 2012 looked at regular soda drinkers over a six month period to see how it affected their bodies. What they discovered was that people who consumed calories from soda as opposed to from healthy options such as milk or water wound up with higher fat deposits in the liver and muscles.

Scarily enough, this type of fat deposit can lead to heart disease or even heart failure if it goes untreated. In contrast, the people in the study who drank healthy alternatives did not have a buildup of fat in these organs.

And that’s not the only evidence that soda leads to weight gain.

In 2011 the University of Texas conducted a study that showed diet soda intake led to a 70 percent waistline increase over a period of ten years. Even worse, participants in the study who drank two diet sodas a day had a waist expansion of 500 percent over the same time period!

While drinking a soda might be tempting at first, that type of weight gain is dangerous and can seriously affect a person’s health. Again, choosing beverages that don’t contain artificial sweeteners and use natural sweeteners instead can help mitigate this problem.

Choosing Better Beverages

After reading all that, we certainly don’t want to consume another soda anytime soon! Luckily, it’s pretty easy to find beverages that can give you the same refreshing sensation and won’t leave you with the detrimental health impacts of drinking soda.

Check Out GacLife

GacLife has a whole host of beverages that offer everything you might look for in a soda - flavor, refreshment, and carbonation. Choose from our many drinks and find one that fits your flavor and keeps you going during the hot summer months.

No matter what you enjoy, there’s something for everyone and for every occasion.

So what do you think? Let’s skip the soda together and choose naturally delicious beverages that help your body and your mind.

Mix Your Own Sodas

Probably the easiest way to avoid a sugary soft drink is to create your own sodas! Take your favorite fruit beverage, such as Hydrate Mango, and simply mix it with sparkling water to create the same carbonated feel.

That way, you don’t compromise the bubbly carbonation effect and can still enjoy your favorite flavors.

At GacLife we recommend mixing one of our hydrate beverages with a little bit of sparkling water for the perfect amount of bubbles. Looking to add a little extra something? Choose a flavored sparkling water to add an extra twist on the drink!

Try Kombucha

Kombucha is a type of fermented tea that packs in probiotics and a tangy flavor without adding tons of calories.

Kombucha comes in a variety of flavors so there’s sure to be something for everyone! And, this natural beverage has no added sweeteners to be wary of. Score!

Create Fruit Infused Water

Infusing your everyday ice water with fruit can create a refreshing twist and can help you stay hydrated.

Try adding a few slices of cucumber or strawberries to your water bottle before you leave the house tomorrow and enjoy a refreshing, naturally sweet beverage.

Feeling exotic? Mix it up and throw in passion fruit or gac fruit to your beverage instead for some unique flavors!
